Potty Training

I never in my wildest dreams imagined how excited I would be to see a child urinate in a tiny commode. My daughter embarked on this wonderful journey starting on Friday, and you would have thought she was accepting her first Oscar award, the way my husband and I reacted! And I think there may be a touch of the acting bug in her genes. Bribery has not worked with her, but she just seemed to bask and come alive in the adulation and ovations that my husband and I presented her with! Nothing like a little taste of applause! Anyhow, we have a long road ahead of us, but at least she has started! I would not have pushed this, except that she needs to be trained for pre-school, which is quickly approaching in the next few months, which is just amazing to me. I feel like it was yesterday, when I changing those tiny, tiny little diapers. Its such a conflicted feeling. I love every new thing she does each day, and her vocabulary just amazes me, but at the same time, I miss that little baby girl who curled up in my arms and was totally dependent on me. Before I had her, I was never much of an infant person. I was very tentative and nervous around them. That has certainly changed. I would love to be able to experience that again and I would certainly savor it more this time, knowing how quickly it goes.

Hello Hez'z...I saw you on Pilot-mom's blog and just thought I would skip down here to say hi to you and to tell you that I will be praying for your dad.

It looks like you just started your blog, eh?
I have been blogging for almost two years but there is so much that I can't do yet!
As long as I can post a few pictures and write a little I guess that is the main thing, eh?

This is such a cute story about your littel girl.
Ha!
A Hollywood production!

My husband and I have no children but once we looked after my little niece for a year and she was just at the "training" age.
Everytime she succeeded in using the potty, Bernie and I would cheer and clap for her...Hurray!!
Well one time, I was coming home and when I entered the door, I was greeted by little Lena.
She ran over to me as fast as her tiny legs could go and when she reached me, she took me by my dress hem and pulled me toward the bathroom. all the while cheering and saying over and over again, "Burnny, Burnny, Burnny!!"
By the time I reached the bathroom , she let go of me and started to clap her little hands together...Hurray!!!Hurray!!Hurray!!
I took one look and there to my astonishment and I might say, disgust, I saw that that husband of mine had used the toilet and forgot to flush it!!
Ha!

Have a good night Hez'z and rest assured, I will be praying for your dear dad.
My dad is sick too, so I know exactly how you feel!...from Terry[Teresa] Canadian Blogger from Welland, Ontario, Canada

What a cute story, Hez! A Hollywood production indeed! :)

I loved each season of our son's growth. Like you I loved cuddling up with him as a baby. But I was just as excited and eager when he advanced to toddling around.

The one thing I remember about potty training our son is that he loved grapes (graupes as he would say). So I used them instead of candy to reward him. :)

Hi Terry and Pilot Mom!
Thank you for stopping in! You are right, Terry..I am so new to this and barely proficient, so please bear with me. Thank you all for your potty training stories, and Pilot Mom...great idea with the grapes! My daughter Ryann loves them, just like your son, and I would prefer to use them ,then the old M&Ms standby. Terry, I am so sorry to hear about your father as well as Pilot Dad and I will keep everyone in my prayers also. It helps to have people in the same situation as you and knowing what you are feeling. When my dad was first diagnosed, I spent the better part of two weeks with intense crying jags, but I have just been praying and appreciating every moment we all have together as a family, and doing much better! Hang in there everyone and Thank you for your support! Heather or Hez
